We also
fund The Children's Desk
in Ndola. This is
a co-ordinating agency working
with vulnerable and orphaned
children in the Copperbelt.
Through the Children's
Desk we are able to reach
out to several organisations
in this impoverished
part of Zambia. We have
run successful street worker
training courses here, and
the 'second generation'
of young African street
workers are now being
trained.

In ZAMBIA, a country devastated
by the effect of HIV/Aids,
we partner an agency called
Friends of the Street Children
in the Copperbelt region
of Zambia. They are pioneering
community based projects
to enable children whose
parents have died from Aids
to be overseen by neighbours
and extended families. They
oversee
skills training within the
community, even enabling
girls to train in traditionally
male based skills such as
carpentry.
