Catenian Brothers
and St Anselm's
College join forces
to fundraise for
Street Child Africa

Catenian Brothers
and their wives
from all over Province
4 took part in the
annual Wirral Coastal
Walk on behalf of
Street Child Africa,
on Sunday 20th May
and to date, have
managed to raise
about £6,000.00!
Walkers from the
Catenian Brothers
joined with staff
and students of
St Anselm’s College,
Birkenhead and walked
the 15 miles of
the walk from Mersey
to the Deeround
the top of the Wirral.
The walk was organised
by Chris
and Kay Doran of
Birkenhead Circle,
who are volunteer
fundraisers
for Street Child
Africa in schools
and parishes.
Chris and Kay said
‘It was a magnificent
team effort and
we would like to
thank all those
who took part, and
their sponsors.
Everyone enjoyed
it so much we were
asked to make it
an annual event’.

Street
Child Africa's
Fundraising
Manager, Duncan
Ross is Pedaling
for Street Children
again this summer... |
On
6th July, Duncan
sets off on his
annual fundraising
bike ride. This
year, the route
is designed to celebrate
all the work of
Street Child Africa’s
fantastic support
groups from the
bottom to the top
of the country.
This will eventually
take him from Brighton
to Glasgow – a route
of a bit more than
700 miles.
Now,
why our support
groups would think
that a lycra-clad,
balding fundraiser,
sweating through
their neighbourhood
would be classified
as celebration,
is a question to
which Duncan admits
he has no easy answer.
Nevertheless, he
has asked for:
Cups of tea to be
left by the road
(or pints of beer
at the end of it)
Company – if anyone
is foolish enough
to want to join
in any bit of the
ride
Money – if only
to make him go away
again (see http://www.justgiving.com/duncanride2007
)
His
schedule is, roughly:
Friday 6th July
: Arrive Brighton
Saturday 7th July
: Arrive Orpington
Sunday 8th July:
Arrive Upminster
(for Sunday lunch!)
Monday 9th July:
Arrive Northampton
Thursday 12th July:
Arrive Liverpool
Sunday 15th July:
Arrive Northallerton
(another Sunday
lunch)
Wednesday 18th July:
Arrive Glasgow

St
Pancras Parish,
Lewes Support Group.
On Sunday 17th June
22 parishioners
(the youngest only
5 years old!) completed
an 11km circular
walk with some very
steep climbs over
the South Downs
near Lewes. The
sun shone, the views
were glorious and
we all enjoyed tea
and delicious homemade
cakes at the end!
