Frequently
Asked Questions
|
| How
much of my donation goes to Africa? |
 |
Although
the figures do change year by year,
on average 75p of
every pound donated goes directly
to Africa. With the remaining 25p
we have gone out and raised more money!
We also recognise the need to address
the "bigger picture" and
spend a sensible proportion of funds
on lobbying, research, and evaluation.

| Where
does the funding come from? |
| Street
Child Africa's funding comes from
a variety of sources, and again this
grows each year as we grow. On average,
this chart shows where our funding
comes from. |
|
| Africa
is so corrupt - how do you know the
funding goes to the right people? |
| Street
Child Africa responds directly to
specific requests from its partners,
with whom we have formal agreements
developed over a number of years.
Once our Trustees have decided to
fund a proposal, we transfer the funding
directly to our African partner agencies
bank accounts. As well as requesting
formal feedback on expenditure, we
visit our partners on monitoring visits,
to ensure that the funding has been
spent correctly. |
| If
Charity starts at home, shouldn't
we be helping the homeless chidren
in the UK first? |
Street
Child Africa is more than aware
that homeless children exist all
over the world. Street children
are often ignored by society and
find it difficult to get their voice
heard. However, Africa is the poorest
continent in the world and therefore
street children have even less choices
than those living in a developed
country would. Street Child Africa
exists to help these children who
really do have nothing, no one and
no way out. But we also network
and share ideas with street child
agencies all over the World, including
the UK.
